Managing Care For Our Mom

"After 4 months of managing in-home care for our Mom, we decided to look at some assisted living communities in our area.  Although very  nice, the ones we visited seemed a little overwhelming to Mom.

A friend told us about a newly renovated community in Arden that had just re-opened.  We decided to check it out.  Thus began our love affair with Ivy Gables, a beautifully appointed 24 room senior living community nestled in the community of Ardentown which just happens to be 5 minutes from our home.  We particularly liked that it was a small community, knowing that it would be more comforting to Mom.

Of course, what's a beautiful community without warm and friendly people to bring it to life.  The staff at Ivy Gables outshines all of its beautiful appointments.

They are top notch, professional folks who welcomed us and have gone the extra mile to make our Mom (and us) feel at home!  Knowing that our Mom is safe and in the hands of such kind and loving folks, has given us such peace of mind!"

"Laurie Seidle and Ivy Gables staff,

My mom had a broken hip at the beginning of January and was released from Cadia Rehab with the recommendation of 24 hour care. We looked at Ivy Gables first because it came highly recommended from the Cadia staff, and we also looked at a few other places. My family and I fell in love with Ivy Gables and its home-like feel. Ivy Gables is a beautiful facility with top quality staff, excellent food and lovely grounds in the back. My seven brothers and sisters and I all agreed that mom would love it there. We especially love the big bright 4 season porch and have had many family gatherings there.

Mom has been at Ivy Gables a few months now and we continue to love the care and quality of service that she receives. She gets spoiled with wonderful fresh foods... they cater to her likes and dislikes too. They have taken Mom out to lunch at nearby restaurants, visited Boscov's on a shopping trip, and last week we went to Winterthur Museum and Gardens for a nice tour in the cutest transport cab you ever want to see. To top things off, the Arden Theater sent over some free tickets to a show that we have enjoyed. We also have done an Easter Egg hunt with staff and patients' family. Fun times!

There are plenty of other activities, like painting bird houses, cooking class demos, making jewelry, painting small planting pots, a movie/ activity room, daily exercises and trips out to see the vegetable garden in the back if that is our cup of tea. They keep Mom so busy, she doesn't have time to get lonely or bored.

I have only good things to say about the staff at Ivy Gables. Nurses, aids, chefs, directors, and maintenance staff all bend over backwards to be cheerful and loving. My Mom (who is 90 years old) thinks that Ivy Gables is now her home and she loves it there. I think she gets treated like a queen and always feels that she is well taken care of when her family cannot always be there. My Mom has blossomed and her health is the best we could hope for.

Ivy Gables is more like a home in the country than an assisted living facility. We are glad we found you."
